Wet start to in-season Mugello test
1 May 2012 – The Formula 1 fraternity was greeted with a very wet Mugello circuit as testing kicked off at the Italian venue on Tuesday, marking the first in-season gathering since 2008. All teams bar HRT are present, with the latter opting to focus on its factory move.
Pirelli's full wet tyres were the choice for many as the green light was flicked on at 9am local time (BST +1), with every driver in the field completing an installation lap within the first few minutes. However, with track conditions far from ideal, lap times of any real meaning are not expected to be witnessed until the afternoon session.
The teams will take an hour-long lunch break at 1pm local time, before resuming at 2pm on a circuit which is expected to be much drier than it has been so far.
