Daly avoids hare while testing Force India

17 May 2012

Conor Daly was blown away by the experience of driving a Formula 1 car on Thursday, but the American was equally surprised by a hare which leapt out in front of him.

The American GP3 race winner, son of ex Grand Prix driver Derek Daly, is enjoying the straight-line aerodynamic run which is taking place at Cotswold Airport, formerly known as Kemble Airfield; the 20–year-old was fortunate able to avoid the charging animal.

“Done several runs so far,” he posted on Twitter at 11 o’clock UK time (BST). “I must say it sounds pretty amazing! Had to avoid a large rabbit on my last run, that was entertaining…the prancing rabbit had its DRS fully open so I gave it a run for its money. Was a close race though!”

Although the only circuit testing permitted in-season was the collective gathering at Mugello between the Bahrain and Spanish Grands Prix, teams are allowed selected full-scale aerodynamic runs in order to compare wind tunnel data with real life simulations.
