Vitaly Petrov has been given an added push for retaining his Caterham seat ahead of the 2013 season, with the English team having signed a new deal with Russian Helicopters. The company will be working with Caterham Cars as well as the F1 team.
“I am delighted to confirm Russian Helicopters as a partner of Caterham Cars,” Team Principal Tony Fernandes is quoted as saying by Finnish publication Turun Sanomat.
Petrov's team-mate, Heikki Kovalainen, has held a helicopter pilot’s licence for several years.
Between 2001 and 2005, Minardi team owner Paul Stoddart enjoyed the advantage of his own airline, European Aviation, which constantly ferried team personnel between races over the course of the European season.
