Pastor Maldonado shocked the Formula 1 fraternity by winning for Williams last time out in Spain. Now in Monte Carlo, the Venezuelan was pleased with the team’s progress despite rain washing out much of second practice on Thursday afternoon. Furthermore, he expects a very tightly-punched pack on Sunday.
“The car is feeling really good this year and looks competitive in the running we have done today, so we’re happy with that,” he reported.
“It's a shame we didn't get to run as much during the afternoon, as we would have liked to have gathered a bit more data on the tyres, but we still have P3 on Saturday. I love this circuit and think it's going to be a competitive Grand Prix.”
Remarkably, Williams is operating normally in Monaco despite losing thousands of pounds worth of IT equipment in the post-Spanish Grand Prix garage fire.
