Pastor Maldonado will be joining Sergio Pérez on the final row of the Monaco Grand Prix starting grid, having taken a further penalty ahead of Sunday’s race.
Having been set to start 24th after crashing in qualifying, Pérez was momentarily promoted to 23rd as Maldonado took on a new gearbox. However, as Pérez then experienced a gearbox penalty of his own, he returned to the slot at the very back.
In final practice on Saturday morning, the Sauber was hit by the Williams when Maldonado swiped across the bows of the Mexican rounding the Portier. Onlookers now expect drama as the pair fight through the back-markers in tandem.
