Kimi Räikkönen comfortably won the 2005 Canadian Grand Prix with McLaren but, now with Lotus, the Finn’s 2012 weekend has not started off in an ideal way. Heading into third and final practice on Saturday morning, he hopes for an improved setup.
“It was an okay day for us,” he said after ending the day in 15th place, one spot behind team-mate Romain Grosjean. “We expected rain in the afternoon, so we used the Super Soft tyres in the morning to make sure we could do some long runs and we completed everything we needed to do today, as the rain didn’t come until later.
“I’m not 100 percent happy with my setup and I think we’re missing a trick somewhere. It’s not a major issue, but I know we can go faster. Let’s see how it goes tomorrow - anything can happen and hopefully it’s a little warmer as that usually seems to help.”
After six rounds so far this year, Räikkönen is the final driver still within one race win of the championship lead, currently 25 points behind the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso.
