Sebastian Vettel stormed to his 32nd career pole position in Canada on Saturday, in the process matching the sum of 1992 Champion Nigel Mansell. This following the FIA’s outlawing of the holes seen in the floor of the Red Bull RB8.
“We have had to change the floor, closing the hole, but the car seemed to work pretty well anyway,” Vettel said after qualifying ahead of Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and team-mate Mark Webber. “That wasn’t the only thing on our car which was making a difference and we never feared for performance.”
On Sunday, the German aims for Red Bull’s first victory in Montreal; last year, he led until the final lap when he made a mistake and was passed by Jenson Button.
