FIA race stewards in Montreal have taken no action over a potential moment in which Pastor Maldonado delayed Kimi Räikkönen during the Q1 phase of qualifying.
The Lotus driver was not eliminated until Q2 and, after the session, both he and his Williams counterpart shared their versions of events with adjudicators including ex Grand Prix driver Martin Donnelly.
‘The stewards find this a racing incident which did not hinder Car 9 from reaching Q2,’ reads the official report.
Maldonado will start 17th on the grid after touching the infamous ‘Wall of Champions’, breaking his right-rear suspension and performing a spectacular 360-degree spin.
