Red Bull faces competition raises €1m

19 June 2012

This year’s Faces for Charity competition, run by Red Bull Racing and giving Formula 1 fans a chance to see their own face on the cars of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, has generated a staggering one million euros (£800,000).

First run in 2007, the competition results in a college of faces making up a special livery for the Red Bull machines. With the majority of entrants having donated more than the minimum required amount of 15 euros, the final figure was achieved as Red Bull matched every entry.

“Scientific research is very cost intensive and Faces for Charity is going to make a huge difference to our ability to fund the most promising research projects,” explains Wings for Life Managing Director Anita Gerhardter. “I can’t overstate how much this will help us progress towards our goal to find a cure for spinal cord injury.”

Every person to have entered the competition will now be put into a prize draw, with the winner being granted special VIP access to the British Grand Prix on 8 July.
