Pirro returns as Valencia steward
20 June 2012 – Emanuele Pirro is back in the FIA stewards’ box for this weekend’s European Grand Prix, looking over the Valencia race with five Le Mans 24 Hour victories behind him.
Although most of the Italian’s success came behind the wheel of sports cars, Pirro has also won a total of three touring cars titles in Germany and Italy. He spent a short stint in Formula 1, competing with Benetton and Dallara between 1989 and 1991.
Pirro will be sat alongside Garry Connelly, Deputy President for the FIA Institute, and Paolo Longoni, who trained as a motorsport steward 22 years ago.
