Fernando Alonso was not reacting dramatically when several reporters quizzed him over the latest Ferrari rumours on Thursday. The Italian team ignited rumours of a Sebastian Vettel move by publishing an interview on their website.
The interview in question had been produced jointly by Germany’s Auto Bild and Sport Bild, then related onto the Ferrari website; when discussing with Bernie Ecclestone, Team Principal Stefano Domenicali commented that Alonso and the current double World Champion would be able to ‘coexist together’, should they be in that position.
“It’s always the same with Ferrari and rumours,” Alonso responded when bombarded with questions in the Valencia paddock. “The same happened with me when I first won the championship back in 2005…and I got there five years later. Maybe Seb will do the same and come in five years! But, whichever team-mate comes here in the future, we will try to work just as well as we are doing with Felipe.”
When asked how he would feel for Lewis Hamilton to join Ferrari, Alonso responded:
“Not a problem.”
Vettel has won the last two European Grands Prix for Red Bull.
