Sebastian Vettel has praised his Red Bull team after taking pole position in the European Grand Prix at Valencia. The German driver said hard work and new upgrades allowed him to take his third pole position of the season.
"The guys have worked really hard this weekend in the garage to make sure that we brought a couple of new parts to the car,” he said. “They seem to work and I am looking forward to the race tomorrow."
The Red Bull driver was surprised by the gap ahead of second placed Lewis Hamilton, after he took pole position by nearly four tenths of a second.
However, the German believes tomorrow’s European Grand Prix won’t be easy, despite him winning the race from the front in the previous two years.
"It will be a difficult race and difficult to predict," he continued. "We have seen too much this year to sit here on Saturday afternoon and predict what is going to happen.”
Vettel’s 33rd career pole position now puts him third in the all-time list, level with Alain Prost and Jim Clark and now behind only Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna
