Toro Rosso drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Éric Vergne had a weekend to forget in Valenca as they found themselves in collisions with both Caterham drivers, Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov.

Ricciardo was running as high as third after the Safety Car period but found himself in trouble after a coming together with Vitaly Petrov.

“I had Petrov going quite slowly in front of me,” he said. “I went to get around him and he defended by going a bit wide. So I tried to switch back and I feel I gave him some racing room, but we still made contact because perhaps his move was a bit too aggressive.”

Vergne had a similar problem with Kovalainen but believes the collision was nothing more than a racing incident.

“I felt I was ahead and as I started to turn into the corner,” said the Frenchman. “We collided and his front wing clipped my rear wheel and there was too much damage to the floor.”
