Classic Silverstone memories for de la Rosa

Classic Silverstone memories for de la Rosa

30 June 2012

Pedro de la Rosa returns to Silverstone with a bucket full of memories from the Northamptonshire circuit. It may have changed on numerous occasions since the Spaniard first raced there in the 1990s, but the English venue remains a special one.

“Silverstone is a beautiful and classic circuit, it’s a place I really like,” the HRT driver begins. “I’ve raced there in many categories: Formula Ford, Formula Renault, Formula 3 and Formula 1. It’s very demanding on the tyres, so the logical thing is to go for three stops.

“Strategies will play a big part. It’s not the most favourable circuit for us, so we’re going to have to grind our teeth because, apart from that, it’s also one of the toughest tracks for a driver.”

De la Rosa’s best Silverstone F1 result to date is 11th place for Jaguar in 2002.
