Räikkönen hopeful of victories

1 July 2012

After scoring his third podium of the year in Valencia, Kimi Räikkönen has said he wants mores then just top three finishes and is disappointed not to have been one of the seven different winners in 2012.

The 2007 Champion finished third in Barcelona and second in Valencia and Bahrain, races he truly believed he could have won.

“If you asked me before the start of the season whether I would be happy with podiums I'd have said yes, but now I’ve had some good results, I want more”, he said. “In the last few races the results haven’t been as strong as I’ve wanted. We’ve finished well but I’m disappointed not to have a win yet. We just have to get everything together and I’m sure it can come.”

Räikkönen will be hoping to reward his Lotus team, based nearby in Enstone, with his first victory since he returned to Formula 1.

“When you win in Silverstone, it gives such a good feeling. You have to get everything exactly right. I won there in Formula Renault and then with Ferrari in 2007. It would be fantastic to win again there, especially with the factory just down the road. I’m sure we would have some fantastic celebrations.”

With a gap of just eleven points, Lotus will be looking for a strong points haul at the British Grand Prix to promote them to second place in the Constructors' standings ahead of McLaren.
