Van der Garde to drive streets of Rotterdam

3 July 2012

Giedo van der Garde, reserve driver for Caterham in F1, will be starring in a Rotterdam street demonstration next month. The 'City Racing' event will be staged on Sunday 26 August and is free for the thousands of spectators who are expected to attend.

Always a popular fixture in the Dutch motorsport year, the Rotterdam event sees a selection of impressive cars and well-known figures taking to the streets in order to unleash horsepower in the form of donuts and burnouts.

“This is really special,” van der Garde tells GPUpdate.net. “I am very close to realising my dream of racing in Formula 1 and the goal is to get something sorted for next year, but for now it’s down to City Racing Rotterdam and to have an F1 car in action with the fans is fantastic. I am very excited and will soon do my best to make a beautiful spectacle of it.”

Last year, the crowds witnessed displays from Mercedes and Ferrari.
