Massa relishing fast corners of Silverstone

Ferrari are hopeful of carrying much speed through the Hangar Straight speed trap at Silverstone, as Felipe Massa delights in the momentum which he and Fernando Alonso are hoping to carry through the quickest corners. Following the medium-speed first half of the lap, fast sweepers then challenge the drivers at Copse, Maggots and Becketts.

“It’s difficult to have a clear picture of how competitive we should be,” says Massa, who is in need of a strong weekend as he is 16th in the World Championship. “Who knows, maybe Silverstone can be even better than expected for us, but if you look at Valencia - where we three tenths between 13 cars in Q2 - it shows you really cannot make predictions this season.

“However, we believe our car is not too bad in the high-speed corners and so I feel we should discover a good F2012 when we start practice there on Friday.”

From the eight races hosted so far this year, the Brazilian has achieved a best finish of sixth place in Monaco but has also failed to score on no less than five occasions.
