Alonso: Silverstone should better suit Ferrari

5 July 2012

Following a highly impressive victory on the streets of Valencia less than two weeks ago, Fernando Alonso is expecting his car to perform even better at the high-speed Silverstone Circuit. The Spaniard, who recently became the first man to win two races this season, currently holds a 20-point advantage over Red Bull rival Mark Webber.

"Silverstone should be a little bit better for us, suit our car better," Alonso said in Thursday's press conference. "In the high speed corners our car is performing quite well, so hopefully me and Felipe (Massa) will do good this weekend.

"The weather is also very important here, anything can happen. The forecast is for lots of rain, so we need to be prepared for all. We will try to have a smooth qualifying, be in the right time on the right lap. Hopefully the car performs well in the race."

Ferrari has a total of 122 points in the Constructors' championship heading to Silverstone, with 111 of those coming from Alonso's side of the garage.
