Montezemolo dreams of F1 race at Mugello

12 July 2012

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has spoken of his desire for a Grand Prix to be held at Mugello in the future, explaining that it would be a 'dream come true' if it were ever to become a reality. The venue played host to an in-season test back in May and also hosts the Italian MotoGP event, which is taking place this weekend.

"Mugello has always been a demanding and spectacular track for those who tackle it, be they on two or four wheels, but it is also now recognised as being one of the most cutting edge facilities in the world, from every point of view," said di Montezemolo.

"This year, it also witnessed the return of Formula 1 with a test session, which drew a big crowd and was much appreciated by all the teams. It would be a dream come true to one day also see a Formula 1 World Championship race take place at Mugello…"

Ferrari claim that around 15,000 people attended the opening day of the test, with two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso topping the timesheets.
