Jenson Button believes one needs look no further than television coverage to witness that he was illegally overtaken by Sebastian Vettel at Hockenheim. The pair were dicing on the penultimate lap of the race and the stewards are now looking into the incident which saw the Red Bull driver pass the McLaren will all four wheels on the run-off area.
“There’s nothing to say, really,” Button said bluntly when quizzed over the Lap 66 occurrence. “The TV cameras say it all, so I’d rather just talk about the race itself.”
When being interviewed by three-time World Champion Niki Lauda on the podium, Vettel explained that Button had not expressed any dissatisfaction over the incident. However, just minutes earlier, live television coverage had clearly broadcast the pair discussing the moment.
Button ran ahead of Vettel after vaulting in front at the second round of pit-stops, following a series of laps when the Red Bull was delayed by a lapped Lewis Hamilton.
