Hungaroring DRS zone confirmed by FIA

26 July 2012

Formula 1 governing body the FIA has revealed the DRS zone for this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, with the activation point placed just before the pit straight.

This matches the decision from 12 months ago, with Hungary's tight and twisty layout giving officials little choice as to where to place the zone. The detection point will also remain unchanged from 2011, with it being positioned 5m before Turn 14.

As always, the DRS can be activated freely in practice and qualifying, before usage is limited to the permitted zone in Sunday's race. If rain falls during any of the sessions, Race Director Charlie Whiting has the ability to prevent drivers from using the device.
