Mark Webber could only hope for a rain shower after qualifying 11th on the grid for the Hungarian Grand Prix. With the Red Bull cars having been pegged back after Hockenheim, Sebastian Vettel was able to qualify third but the Australian missed out.
“I was happy this morning, reasonably quick in Q1 in relation to what we could do,” Webber told Sky Sports. “But I didn’t feel happy on that last set of tyres and it was bizarre.”
When asked to describe his feelings for Sunday, the Australian replied with a smile:
“Rain! We’ll see…it’s a long race and we probably…it was difficult to challenge for pole and you just need to get everything right when it counts. We just got bumped out, so that was it.”
At present, Webber is Fernando Alonso’s closest challenger at the top of the Drivers’ Championship. Some forecasters say there is a 50 percent chance of rain for Sunday.
