Kimi Räikkönen has now finished on the podium five times in 11 races since returning to Formula 1. Despite that statistic, the 2007 World Champion is annoyed that an early KERS issue may have deprived him of victory in Budapest on Sunday.
“We came second, but we had some problems with the KERS in the first laps so that didn’t help us,” he said, having won at the Hungaroring for McLaren in 2005.
“We had terrific speed and we will keep trying to win at the next race – we keep saying that all the time, but we have to try and at least we keep putting ourselves in a good position for the championship and for trying to win. I came second, but for sure we are not happy that we didn’t win.”
Second and third positions for Räikkönen and team-mate Romain Grosjean, who both challenged Hamilton this afternoon, marks Lotus’ second double podium of 2012.
