Nico Rosberg admits that Mercedes is currently going through a particularly dark patch, but is sure the Brackley-based team can recover. In Hungary on Sunday, he struggled to tenth place as team-mate Michael Schumacher retired from the race.
“Generally, a difficult weekend for us – it just didn’t really go to plan,” Rosberg said in his post-race video diary. “I expected us to be quite quick, but it just wasn’t quick enough and 13th in qualifying really was quite bad.
“It was not ideal, the whole weekend. It’s a difficult period for us, but I’m convinced that we can turn the corner. We have a lot of stuff coming up, upgrades and things, so I think over the coming weeks we will be able to take a step forward; but again it’s difficult to know because the next tracks are quite unusual.”
Formula 1 resumes from its summer break at the start of September, with the classic Belgian and Italian Grands Prix running back-to-back.
