Lotus notched up a double podium result in Hungary on Sunday, marking the fifth time in 2012 that one team had seen both of its drivers on the rostrum and the second time that the Enstone squad had achieved the feat. Team Principal Eric Boullier expects more of the same when Formula 1 continues in September.
The sport is now beginning a five-week break which separates the Hungarian and Belgian Grands Prix. During that time, all team factories must close their doors for the period of a fortnight. Looking back to the Hungaroring race, Boullier admits:
“When Kimi (Räikkönen) and Romain (Grosjean) were side-by-side – that undoubtedly was the scariest moment so far this season.”
Going on to express his feelings for the nine remaining races, the Frenchman explains:
“I’m looking forward to having similar weekends to what we saw in Hungary because I think that things are coming together well now. Both drivers are very eager to do well - both them and the race team are starting to really deliver with the car, as is everybody back at Enstone.
“The package we have is working well, with our car having been strong so far in the first part of the season. We have missed a lot of opportunities to bring more points home, but that’s life. In the second part of the year we will be a stronger Lotus F1 Team; we have the ability to score at every race and even to get wins - not just one, either…”
