Factory shutdown: Summer break underway

Factory shutdown: Summer break underway

4 August 2012

August has brought us memorable F1 races in past years, but since 2009 the teams have agreed to shut all of their factories for a fortnight. Some doors are already closed whereas others are about to be, with no design or manufacturing allowed.

Marketing and communication departments remain operational, but – due to mutual consent – any factory work is strictly forbidden for each team’s two-week holiday.

F1 factory closure dates, summer of 2012:

Red Bull:
Friday 3 – Friday 17

McLaren:
Monday 30 (July) – Monday 13

Ferrari:
No information disclosed

Mercedes:
Monday 6 – Monday 20

Lotus:
Monday 6 – Monday 20

Force India:
Monday 6 – Monday 20

Sauber:
Monday 6 – Monday 20

Toro Rosso:
Sunday 5 – Sunday 19

Williams:
Monday 6 - Monday 20

Caterham:
Monday 6 - Monday 20

HRT:
Monday 6 – Monday 20

Marussia:
Monday 6 – Monday 20

Each closure officially comes into effect at 00:00 on the first date mentioned. As can be seen, most teams will be out of action for the next two weeks.

McLaren are the only squad who elected to shutdown immediately after Hungary, thus resuming activity one week before everybody else.
