Di Grassi joins Audi for endurance race

22 August 2012

Lucas di Grassi, Formula 1 test driver for Pirelli, is teaming up with Audi for the next round of the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The race, which is the series’ fifth of the year, will be staged in his hometown of São Paulo on Saturday 15 September.

Brazilian di Grassi, who competed in F1 with Virgin Racing two years ago, will drive the Audi R18 alongside experienced team-mates Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish.

“The WEC race is a nice opportunity to attract attention at home together with Audi,” says di Grassi, who turned 28 earlier this month.“

Endurance racing is a fascinating discipline of motorsport which I’ve only experienced in tests so far. That’s why I’m particularly excited about my debut for Audi alongside two big names like Allan McNish and Tom Kristensen.”

The event follows the famous Le Mans 24 Hours and 6 Hours of Silverstone.
