Di Resta: We have potential for big results
25 August 2012 – Team Principal Vijay Mallya may have given up on the idea of fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship this year, but that hasn’t stopped Paul di Resta believing that Force India can still achieve ‘big results’ before the end of the season.
To date, the best race results for di Resta – who made his F1 debut last year – are the sixth places of Singapore 2011 and Bahrain 2012. He hopes for more of the same between next weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix and the Brazilian season finale.
“I think the summer break was good for everybody,” says the Scot. “I spent the time at home, seeing friends, watching the Olympics and keeping up with my training.
“There’s still a long way to go in the championship and we need to get back to scoring regular points. Last year we ended the season strongly and we need to do the same this year. Williams are not too far ahead of us but Sauber have a big points advantage and it’s going to be a big task to overcome that. But we won’t give up; we’ll keep pushing and see what we can do. We definitely have the potential to get some big results before the end of the year.”
Di Resta currently sits 13th in the standings, eighth points ahead of Nico Hülkenberg as the pair of team-mates sandwich Paulistas Felipe Massa and Bruno Senna.
