2012 Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix: Sunday race results

Fernando Alonso has tweeted that he is ‘200 percent ready’ for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, which will take place just a week after the Spaniard’s large accident at Spa. His championship lead over Sebastian Vettel is now 24 points.

The Ferrari driver was harpooned at the first corner by the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton, which was out of control after being pushed onto the grass by Romain Grosjean. All three cars became airborne and the flying Lotus missed Alonso’s head by centimetres.

The Spaniard, who initially suffered back pain, was left with an aggravated shoulder later in the day but is now pleased to report that he is fully fit for Monza.

‘I woke up with no pain and 200% ready for Monza!’ he said on Twitter, also posting the image atop this article. ‘And... new record for Ferrari on the ‘batak’ machine.. ;))’

As a result of his actions, Grosjean has been banned from this weekend’s race.
