Zanardi collects second gold at Paralympic Games

8 September 2012

Alex Zanardi has won a second gold medal as the London 2012 Paralympic Games. This time, the former F1 driver succeeded in the Men’s Individual H 4 Road Race.

On Wednesday, the Italian – who lost both legs in a Champ Car crash in Germany, 11 years ago next Saturday – triumphed in the Time Trial event. On Friday, still competing at Brands Hatch, he was the early leader before no less than seven rivals caught up in a dramatic fight for the lead. On the final lap, 45-year-old Zanardi overtook South African Eric van Dyk.

Seemingly unstoppable at present, the ex Jordan, Minardi, Lotus and Williams driver then revealed that he may look into contesting the Indianapolis 500 for the first time next year.
