Tuesday saw Jules Bianchi pilot the latest Ferrari Formula 1 car for the first time, as the Frenchman drove for the Italian team in the Magny-Cours Young Driver Test. He now switches his regular Force India chassis as running continues on Wednesday.
Representing Force India as reserve driver, therefore taking part in numerous opening practice sessions on Grand Prix weekends, Bianchi is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and thus enjoys the privilege of testing two cars this week.
“Today we tried various aerodynamic components, which are not big evolutions for the car but things already tried on Fridays at the races and brought here to confirm some of the data,” the Frenchman explained after the test’s first of three days.
“It’s the first time I’ve driven this year’s car and it was good opportunity for me to get some experience of it. I immediately felt comfortable, with a good pace, but right near the end of the session - when I wanted to go for a time - we had a small electrical problem. Apart from that, it was a completely positive day.”
Italy’s Davide Rigon is in the Ferrari cockpit on Wednesday.
