Michael Schumacher should stay in Formula 1 next season. That is the opinion of Nico Rosberg, who has been Mercedes team-mate to the multiple World Champion since the start of 2010. The German’s future is key to the current driver market.
The ‘silly season’ is on hold at present, with several midfield runners waiting to learn the outcomes for the likes of Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa. In the eyes of Rosberg, it would make sense for Schumacher to complete at least one more campaign.
“I will definitely be with the silver arrows next year,” Rosberg told German news agency DAPD. “I look forward to more race wins.
“I think it would be right for Michael to stay, as well. We get along well but there is good competition between us. He is still driving at a very, very high level and it’s a challenge to be up against him. Together, we’re pushing the team forward well.”
Rosberg’s career-first victory came at the Chinese Grand Prix for Round 3; since then, he has scored one more podium finish in Monte-Carlo.
