Jaime Alguersuari has hinted that he will soon be confirmed for a comeback in the 2013 Formula 1 season. The Barcelona driver was suddenly dropped by Toro Rosso last year, having previously been assured of drive for this season.
Having replacing the sacked Sébastien Bourdais mid-way through 2009, Alguersuari had been promised a place at Toro Rosso for the current campaign – only to be told last December that neither he nor Sébastien Buemi had been retained. Having spent 2012 commentating for BBC Radio 5 live, he now appears to be ready for a statement.
“Soon you’ll all know where I will be driving next year,” Alguersuari posted on Twitter on Thursday. “Thank you all again.”
To date, the 22-year-old has been tipped to join either Sauber or Caterham. This could hinge on whether Sergio Pérez or Heikki Kovalainen switches to Ferrari.
