2012 Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix: Friday second free practice results

An unstable car proved to be the downfall of both Sergio Pérez and Kamui Kobayashi as Singapore practice got underway on Friday. The white cars finished the night in 15th and 16th positions, struggling for overall grip at the Marina Bay street venue.

“The first session, when we were evaluating parts, was quite positive but in general our performance was rather weak today,” the Mexican admitted.

“I had way too much oversteer. It is great to go racing in Singapore again but it is important that we improve the balance and setup because you really need confidence in the car here.”

Kobayashi was in a similarly pragmatic mood.

“For me it was a difficult day because I was never really happy with the balance of the car,” the Japanese stated. “It felt inconsistent and a bit unpredictable. We now have to analyse the data carefully and find a way to improve the car.”

The teams will have one more hour of practice before Saturday’s qualifying.
