Kamui Kobayashi just managed a smile after qualifying in Singapore – a session which yielded his first Q1 elimination and only Sauber’s second of the 2012 season. The Swiss team has struggled for pace since the start of practice on Friday.
“Well I have struggled since the beginning of the weekend,” the Japanese driver told reporters in the paddock. “We did everything to make it right and make it work, but I can’t feel the front end of the car and we are struggling this weekend. I just have huge oversteer and can’t handle it. It’s terrible and something very strange.”
In the other white car, Sergio Pérez could manage no more than 14th position.
