2012 Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix: Saturday qualifying results

Jenson Button has qualified fourth quickest for the Singapore Grand Prix but admits that his McLaren was not handling as happily as Lewis Hamilton’s. During the Saturday night session, the 2009 World Champion suffered from oversteer.

“I found it a bit tough today,” he began. “I didn’t really feel comfortable with my car - the rear went away from me quite quickly and I struggled to look after the tyres over a lap. I hope the balance will be better in the race than it was in qualifying. The high degradation around here will make it a tricky race, but I think we’ll be okay.”

Button’s best Marina Bay result to date is second, when he became the only man who could still mathematically take the title fight to Sebastian Vettel after last year’s race.
