Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button, the drivers who finished first and second in Sunday night’s Singapore Grand Prix, have been called to the stewards in Marina Bay.
Discussions will relate to the moment in which the two cars, about to restart the race following the first Safety Car, almost collided. At Turn 16, Vettel was warming up his brakes when Button was caught out and narrowly avoided the back of the Red Bull.
“At the restart, Sebastian accelerated and braked and I just didn’t expect such a speed difference, so I braked and locked up and just missed the rear of his car which would have been quite embarrassing!" Button told Eddie Jordan on the podium.
Possible consequences of the meeting are reprimands or time penalties. The driver representative steward is former Toyota racer Allan McNish.
