FIA shortens Suzuka DRS zone

FIA shortens Suzuka DRS zone

3 October 2012

Once again, the sole Suzuka DRS zone for the Japanese Grand Prix will be on the start/finish straight, but the FIA has reduced its length by 20 metres this year.

The detection beam – measuring whether or not a car is within one second of that in front – will come 50 metres before the Casio Triangle chicane at the end of the lap.

Drivers will then be able to deploy the overtake-aiding device – on the third lap after the start or a restart – from the Control Line, on the main straight past the pits.
