Nicolas Prost, son of quadruple Formula 1 World Champion Alain, will drive the Lotus E20 in next month’s Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi. The Frenchman is officially signed to the Enstone team as a reserve driver.
The Frenchman will begin preparations for the Yas Marina outing by heading to Navarra in Spain this weekend, where he will run a Renault R30.
“This is a fantastic chance for me to gain experience at the highest level of motorsport and I'm extremely grateful to the team for handing me this opportunity,” he says.
“I've been working with the team for a number of months already but this will be my first time driving the R30 in a competitive environment, so I'm aiming to make the most of my time on-track while hopefully also providing the team with some useful feedback for the future.”
At Suzuka this weekend, Lotus will race its ‘Double DRS’ device for the first time before introducing significant updates for the following round in Korea.
