Yeongam DRS zone extended for 2012

Yeongam DRS zone extended for 2012

10 October 2012

Unlike at Suzuka, where the DRS zone on the main straight had been shortened after last year, the designated area has been lengthened for this weekend’s race in Korea.

As was the case in 2011, the Yeongam DRS zone is located along the circuit's second straight but - in a bid to encourage more overtaking into Turn 3 - Formula 1 governing body the FIA has elected to increase it in length by a total of 80 metres.

The detection zone has been placed just before Turn 1, allowing drivers within one second of a car ahead to activate their respective DRS devices during Sunday's race.
