Sergio Pérez was deprived of just under a full, crucial hour of running time thanks to a faulty actuator during second practice for the Korean Grand Prix. Having first lost use of his DRS, the McLaren-bound Mexican pulled over in the middle sector.
Pérez had been set to rejoin the 90-minute session in the final ten minutes, only to climb back out of his cockpit before changing out of his overalls.
“I just had no engine power anymore and had to stop on the track,” he explained. “That was why I could not complete my programme and haven’t done any long runs on either tyre compound yet, so it is too early to say what we can do here. Nevertheless, I am very confident for the remainder of the weekend.”
Pérez was still classified 15th as team-mate Kamui Kobayashi – fresh from his Suzuka podium finish – ended the day just one place ahead.
