2012 South Korean Formula 1 Grand Prix: Saturday qualifying results

Sebastian Vettel has explained that he lost the Korean Grand Prix pole position after catching Felipe Massa on his final lap, although the German is not blaming the Brazilian for the moment. Having failed to match his previous best time in the first sector, Vettel came up behind the Ferrari in the middle part of the lap.

“I mean, overall I think we can be happy with the result here,” said the World Champion, who had very much set the pace throughout practice. “We were quite happy with Q1 and Q2.

“On the last run in Q3….I don’t want to blame it on Felipe because I thought he was coming in, but he was right in front of me so I had to back off. I lost a lot in the middle sector, but I think second is a good position to start from.”

Again sharing the front row of the grid with Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber, Vettel is now eyeing up an overtake on the first lap of Sunday’s race.

“You never know…you have a long straight after the start, so we’ll see what we can do…” he summed up.
