Mark Webber’s 11th pole position in Formula 1 signals his second of the season and the sixth for Red Bull Racing this year. However, engine supplier Renault Sport F1 is now celebrating its 200th F1 pole since 1979.

Five of Renault’s 200 poles have been the career-first for World Champions in the sport: Alain Prost in Germany in 1981, Nigel Mansell in Dallas in 1984, Ayrton Senna in Portugal in 1985 and Fernando Alonso in Malaysia in 2003.

“Reaching 200 poles is a milestone in our F1 history,” says Jean-François Caubet, Managing Director of Renault Sport F1.

“Looking back on our involvement in the sport, in the first years of the turbo I don’t think anyone would have thought we could reach this figure! Over time, the team in Viry has worked to develop each of the different engines produced, from V6 to V10, to make each as quick and reliable as they can. We are proud of our achievement and would like to thank all our partners and Renault-engined drivers who have contributed to this achievement.”
