In the immediate aftermath of the Korean Grand Prix, rumours have strengthened of winner Sebastian Vettel moving to Ferrari for the 2014 Formula 1 season. The switch, which would be optional depending on the team’s results of next year, would see the current World Champion racing alongside Fernando Alonso.
Vettel-to-Ferrari stories have long since been on the cards in the paddock, although the situation has now moved up another gear after BBC Sport reported that - according to sources inside the Italian team - a preliminary agreement for 2014 is now in place. This would involve Felipe Massa completing one more season in 2013.
After the Italian Grand Prix last month, Ferrari Team Principal Stefano Domenicali praised Vettel and made a point of defending the German’s boisterous tactics against Alonso in the race at Monza. Company President Luca di Montezemolo has also openly commented that the German-Spanish combination would be a successful one.
When asked in Korea whether Massa is about to be signed for 2013 as the first part of the jigsaw, Domenicali teased fans by asking them to ‘Wait and see…’
