Hill drives 2010 Red Bull in Barcelona

22 October 2012

Damon Hill took time out from his Sky Sports F1 duties to pilot Sebastian Vettel’s first title-winning Red Bull in Barcelona at the weekend. The outing came in the form of a demonstration for the final World Series by Renault gathering of 2012.

Barcelona played a critical part in this season’s World Series by Renault championships, as all four titles were decided in Catalonia. Over the weekend, periods of sunshine were broken up by several intermittent showers, although most of the rain came between track action.

Hill had last driven an F1 car when he ran in his own title-winning Williams to celebrate 60 years of Formula 1 at the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix.

On Sunday afternoon, having wrapped up both Formula Renault 3.5 races, Portugal’s António Félix da Costa sampled the F1 car which had been placed on display in the paddock. The main title was clinched by Dutchman Robin Frijns, who had been championship leader heading into the last race and collided with rival Jules Bianchi.
