Toro Rosso to test Razia and Cecotto
24 October 2012 – Toro Rosso has named Luiz Razia and Johnny Cecotto as its two drivers for next month’s Young Driver test session in Abu Dhabi. The former finished runner-up to Davide Valsecchi in this year’s GP2 championship, whereas the latter – son of the motorcycling Champion and namesake – picked up maiden poles and wins.
Razia will kick off proceedings by controlling the STR7 on the Tuesday, handing the car over to Cecotto on Day 2 before the 23-year-old Brazilian steps back in on Thursday. He has previously tested for Virgin Racing and Lotus (now Caterham).
Cecotto’s GP2 season was his best so far. Now 23 years of age, the Venezuelan picked up pole and victory in Monaco before clinching another race win at Hockenheim. He went on to finish the championship ninth overall.
