Prost, Mortara and Valsecchi to test for Lotus

24 October 2012

Lotus has named Nicolas Prost, Edoardo Mortara and Davide Valsecchi (top) as the three drivers it will test in Abu Dhabi next month. The first is the son of four-time Champion Alain, whereas the second races in DTM and is a two-time Macau Grand Prix winner. The third wrapped up this year’s GP2 championship title at Monza.

Each of the three drivers will enjoy a full day in the car between Tuesday 6 and Thursday 8 November, with Frenchman Prost kicking off proceedings followed by his French-Italian and Italian counterparts, respectively.

“I think we have a great line-up of drivers to work with the team in Abu Dhabi and it will be very interesting for us to see how they stack-up, especially as we will have all the data from the Grand Prix which takes place the week before,” explains Team Principal Eric Boullier.

“Nicolas we know well from his existing work with the team, while Edoardo and Davide are new to us so it should be a productive three days; not just for the drivers, but also the team as we evaluate new parts on the car for our final push at the last two races of the season.”

“For me this is a great honour, as I am eager to showcase my talents and demonstrate that I am ready to take the next step in my career after winning the GP2 Series,” Valsecchi adds. “Lotus is a great team with a superb group of engineers, so it’s great to be getting out on-track with them in Abu Dhabi.”

In the Constructors’ Championship with four races remaining, Lotus sits fourth and is now hoping to challenge McLaren for a top three finishing position in 2012.
