Di Resta: The worst I have been all year

2012 Indian Formula 1 Grand Prix: Saturday qualifying results

Paul di Resta was extremely downcast following qualifying in Greater Noida, as both Force India cars missed out on Q3 at the team’s home Grand Prix. Both he and Nico Hülkenberg are being watched by Vijay Mallya and team guests this weekend.

“Difficult,” di Resta told Sky Sports. “Probably the worst I’ve been in the car all year. I didn’t do a good job, so it’s just disappointing because we wanted to go into qualifying with a strong car. But when you lack confidence you can't get it out of the car.

“This is an important weekend for us and clearly we’re not making enough of an impact. It's been like that all day and we didn't sort it enough to go into qualifying with a strong car. Nico is definitely happier than I am but he's missed out on Q3 as well. We have a lot of hard work to do tomorrow.”

With Hülkenberg 12th and di Resta 16th at the Buddh International Circuit, neither Force India appeared in the top ten shootout for the first time since Monaco.
