Admitting that McLaren could not prevent a Red Bull front row lock-out in qualifying trim, Lewis Hamilton does believe the Woking team could challenge for victory in India. The 2008 World Champion heads team-mate Jenson Button on the second row of the grid.
“Yeah, absolutely,” he said in the qualifying press conference. “The team have done a great job this weekend, dialling the setup into the car.
"To have us on the second row…we're not quick enough to be ahead of Red Bull, but we can definitely challenge them in the race. Our race pace was definitely as good as theirs in practice, so I'm excited about that.”
The grid symmetry continues down to the back of Row 3, as the Ferrari cars of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa line up fifth and sixth in Greater Noida.
