The Indian Grand Prix stewards have decided to take no further action over Michael Schumacher, who allegedly ignored blue flags during Sunday’s Indian Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver made contact with Jean-Éric Vergne at the start of the race, puncturing his left-rear tyre and requiring an urgent pit-stop. The seven-time World Champion was then lapped by the leaders by as early as Lap 11 of 60.
During the race, stewards – including 1980 World Champion Alan Jones – confirmed that Schumacher would be investigated in full after the race.
‘The Stewards considered that the driver of car 10 (Romain Grosjean) did not close the gap to car 7 (Schumacher) sufficiently to require car 7 to move out of the way in accordance with Appendix H Article 2.4.5.1(d) of the International Sporting Code,’ a statement reads.
Schumacher’s afternoon eventually ended with his fourth visit to the pits.
